Guatemalan visit

Ramiro Quib (pictured above), the treasurer of Crescent Hill church’s eastern Guatemala partner presbytery, will visit CHPC and Kentuckiana for the third time, this weekend.  Join us at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in welcoming Ramiro at the Louisville airport.

Ramiro is also slated to: (1) hike with some CHPC folks at Natural Bridge near eastern Kentucky’s Red River Gorge Friday; (2) participate in a Guatemalan Connection gathering at 12:30 p.m. at the CHPC back building’s Gathering Room; (3) help preach in worship Sunday morning; and (4) meet with some folks at the Presbyterian Center Monday morning.

He may leave late Monday afternoon.

Everyone is invited to welcome Ramiro at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, to talk with Ramiro at the 12:30 p.m. Saturday gathering, and to worship Sunday.   Contact Perry Chang if you are interested in the Natural Bridge excursion Friday or if would like to talk with Ramiro or help host or entertain him at another points during his visit.

March 11 gathering notes

Half a dozen plus Crescent Hill folks met as the Guatemalan Connection at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11.  The group heard reports from the El Tarasco and Latin Dance Party fund-raisers (which raised about $600 and $70, respectively), and opted to continue these, on the second Friday of every month, for the El Tarasco fund-raiser, and in April, if the dance group is willing to provide instruction again.  There was a back and forth about whether there should be a couples option for the dancing.

The group authorized two April visits, an early April visit by Ramiro Quib Call, from Estoreño Presbytery, who is already in the United States, and a mid-April visit – apparently by just Megan and Soni – to El Estor. to join a gathering of our partner presbytery’s Presbyterian Women.  There was a little discussion about how much funding to devote to these, and also how to organize the two visits.  Ben will plow ahead with the Guatemala visit planning and Perry with the Louisville visit planning.

The group agreed to meet next at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, in the CHPC Gathering Room, hopefully with Ramiro.  Hopefully, Ramiro will also be able to participate in worship.
