Today is the day that Ellen and Jane are traveling to Guatemala, with the rest of the 2012 Guatemala mission team preparing to meet either at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at church or at 6:15 a.m. at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky airport. Many members of the team have been traveling to and fro across the country this week - limiting their sleep and mission trip prep time - and so they and Ellen and Jane - and others who travel this weekend - Carlos, Nora, and Ana, and Paul, Jennifer, and Carolina, among others - as well as our Guatemalan partners - need your prayers.
Typically, there are last-minute issues that arise on the eve of these trips, and among other things this time there has been a security issue in Izabal and a discussion about whether and how to make a visit to a faraway church during the mission trip next week. God willing, all the team members will join together at 1:15 p.m. Saturday at the Guatemala City airport - thanks in part to the work of the drivers - Amy, Andrea, Ken, and Jim - who will take team members to Cincinnati, and the Guatemalan driver who will take Ellen and Jane to the airport to meet us (and then take us on to Izabal).
It's not clear how much the team is going to have to blog and Facebook during the trip, but it's likely that team members will do so occasionally. In an emergency, Patti at the church office has information about how to reach the group by phone (and may also know how we're doing).
See you on the other side!
- Perry
P.S. Anyone who wants to send the group off with prayer could get up and meet the majority of the team at church at 4:30 a.m. for a quick prayer and good-byes. P
